Oh man, that matzoh brei was SO GOOD. Don’t worry, you can make it for breakfast right now. Here’s the recipe:
INGREDIENTS
Serves 4
4 pieces of MATZOH
5 EGGS
salt & pepper
1 pat of BUTTER
DIRECTIONS
Soak the matzoh in warm water until it softens. Strain the water.
Whisk eggs in a bowl, add softened matzoh and mix well. Season with a little bit of salt and pepper to taste.
Melt butter in the bottom of a pan over medium heat until the bottom of the pan is coated. Add some of the matzoh mixture and cook until a little crispy. Flip and cook the other side until crispy. Once the eggs are cooked through, remove from heat. Continue this process until you’ve cooked the whole batch. Break up into smaller pieces and serve.
Top with your favorite condiment. I like jam or syrup for a sweeter breakfast. Ketchup or sour cream are good for a savory breakfast. What do you put on your matzoh brei?
TIP: Try mixing in cheese and onions before cooking for a stronger savory flavor.
